In all honesty, Macs aren't cheap, but the best Apple deals might make them more affordable. We've also taken on feedback from our contributors (to learn more, read how we test laptops, PCs and workstations). We've ensured that each device has the specs required for video editing, and our reviewers have tested the machines specifically for this purpose. We've evaluated Apple's current range to choose the best Mac for video editing depending on different requirements. Plus, it's not just about laptops: you'll also find some very impressive desktops from the iMac and the Mac Studio lines in the list below. But it is pretty expensive, so we've also included other options on the list which are a little older (and therefore cheaper), but still provide plenty of power. Unfortunately, projects editing in iMovie on the Mac cannot be sent back to iMovie for iOS.So what's the best Mac for video editing overall? Well, right now we think it's the MacBook Pro (M2, 2023), which comes in both 14- and 16-inch versions. In iMovie for Mac, choose File > Import iMovie for iOS Projects.Export the project from the iPhone or iPad to iCloud or iTunes as described above.Saving the project files offers another option besides just archiving your work. Jeff Carlson Edit projects in iMovie for Mac Choose whether to browse iCloud or iTunes, and tap to select the project you wish to import. In iMovie for iOS, go to the Projects view and tap the Import button. If you’re getting it via iCloud, skip to the next step. If you’re going through iTunes, bring up the File Sharing window of the device in iTunes and drag the file from the Finder to the iMovie Documents pane.iMovieMobile file back onto the iOS device is easy. Let’s say the day comes when you do realize you want to edit an old project that you’ve archived in iCloud or on your hard disk. Put projects back onto the iPhone or iPad for editing If you subscribe to iCloud Photo Library and have it set to optimize storage on the device, however, those clips will be deleted and replaced with placeholders that allow you to re-download them later. Once you’ve copied the project to the Finder, select it in iTunes and press Delete.Ĭonfirm the validity of the project using iMovie on the Mac, and then remove the original project in iMovie.īut wait, doesn’t this operating still leave gigabytes of video files on the iPhone or iPad? How astute of you to notice! Yes, it does. iMovieMobile file still takes up extra space on the iPhone or iPad, separate from the original project itself. When you export the project for iTunes, iMovie stores the file in an “iOS limbo” area, a portion of memory used by iMovie for this purpose. There’s one more step before you’re done. Drag that file from iTunes to the Finder to copy it onto the Mac.You’ll see the project listed under iMovie Documents, marked by the project name and the extension. If you’re running an earlier version of iTunes, click the Apps item. Choose your device from the toolbar and select the File Sharing item in the sidebar (iTunes 12.7 and later).(If the device is set to sync with iTunes via Wi-Fi, make sure it’s nearby transferring the project will still work, but won’t be as speedy.) Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac. Tap the Share button, and then tap the iTunes icon.Export projects to your Mac via iTunesĪ benefit to exporting the project to iTunes instead of iCloud is that it doesn’t require a long round trip through the internet. With that confirmed, you can then delete the project from iMovie. If that’s the case, open the project on the iPhone or iPad, make a small edit (such as trimming a clip), and re-export the project. To verify, go to your Mac and, in the Finder, open the iMovie folder in your iCloud Drive.īefore you delete the project from your device, open it in iMovie on the Mac first! If it was created with an older version of iMovie for iOS, the latest version of iMovie on the Mac may not be able to open it. In the Share to iCloud dialog that appears, tap iMovie Project.Īfter a few minutes (depending on the size of the project and the speed of your internet connection), the project is shared to iCloud. In the Projects view, tap the project you want to export. Due to a backlog in supplies, it took many months to process my order, and when I paid with a credit card it was cancelled the following month because they could not ship it within 30 days to process my credit card. We ordered a 20' Greyline, without the flag mount options, along with an LDG 100W external tuner. I was able to determine the wiring and connections were all good but the antenna was failing and we would miss out on the new solar cycle. This year, those bands began generating high SWR. We could only receive 40M, sometimes 20M, and both had to be tuned and adjusted at the antenna. We had a small vertical antenna mounted to our fence, but had limited places to install grounds and could only put two in place along the fence line. We live in an HOA with a small lot and some restrictions on antenna placement and height. This is an antenna I wish I would have purchased sooner. I will reach out to Greyline to see what they have to say. I'm only giving a 4 because of the flag issue. I had USA made flags last over a year flying in much stronger winds that this one. I wouldn’t expect a flag to be in this condition after 3 months. I took the flag down and noticed the flag was made by Anley and it was manufactured in China. I noticed this morning the flag was torn and shredded. I have taken it down when we had higher winds had exceed the 15 MHP. It has been flying on most days in 5 to 15 MPH winds. The SWR is on these bands is 1.0 – 1.3, so I would expect good performance if I had more power.Īt this point in time the only negative I have to report is the flag. Not much of an night owl so I don’t get very much of a change to use the antenna on 40 – 160 meters. I have done some work on 40 meters but not much. Most of my contacts have been 10 MHz – 28 MHZ. I am using a SGC 230 tuner mounted at the base of the antenna All of my contacts have been made on 70 – 100 watts. SSB has been good with good signal reports depending on propagation. Have done a lot of FT4 and FT8 with good reports. The DX into Europe and Africa has been good. The SWR on most band has been =< 1.5 except the 12 meter band. The performance of the antenna has been very good. I installed the antenna in the back yard in the HOA and have not had any complaints. The install was easy with only a couple of small issues that were easily resolved by just thinking things through. I installed the flagpole the end of January here at my home in central Florida. I purchase a 20’ Flagpole antenna that also included the 4’ extension. It could be the difference between hearing a station, or not. RF Chokes can be placed after the radio or after the amplifier.Īgain, the well studied operators add a second RF Choke, 500W or 3500W, immediately after the radio or amplifier. Also, a small RF Choke on the radio side can mitigate QRN, or noise captured along the coax back to the radio station. They are typically installed before the Remote Tuner at the base of your DX Flagpole Antenna or HF Vertical Antenna. Our chokes are rated between 500W to 10 kW and provide up to 5000 Ohms of suppression. We then match the RF Choke designs (current baluns, RFI line isolators, baluns) around each antenna system's requirements.īy focusing on smaller, peer owned boutique businesses, we are doing our part to share our projects in a niche marketplace and continue to find improvements in the details. We study the market and offer our solutions as 'best of breed' for each antenna system and component. Therefore, Greyline seeks wisdom from expert RF engineers with know-how in ultra high quality and results. The only thing that lets it down from being higher on the list is Devin Lytle and Joe Walker’s really dubious vocals. It has tempo changes that are slick, a seriously catchy tune and two men dressed as vaginas. With beautiful harmonies and interesting insights into the characters’ minds, this ensemble piece covers all bases, including two men dressed as vaginas. This song is a group number wherein all of the main characters are preparing for the events to come at school that day. The story follows cast member Joey Richter and his “out of control” Dick, played by Joe Walker. Me and My Dick was Starkid’s second YouTube released musical, way back in 2009, shortly following the release of AVPM. Even though the song is entirely demeaning towards Jafar, its uplifting choral delights and cleverly injected dialogue still leave you beaming at the end of it. The references to Disney are hilarious, particularly when Belle herself makes an appearance. I’m not going to lie, a number of Twisted songs didn’t make the list but are still amazing and definitely worth a listen – ‘Twisted’ itself, and memorably ‘No One Remembers Achmed’ – but they missed out to this one purely because of the “magical” vocals from the cast – the lyric “And your dreams will come true upon a star” alone is a testimony to this. Jafar is blamed for the socio-economic inequality within the kingdom, as well as pretty much everything else. The brilliance of this song is that it takes the structure of Beauty and the Beast’s ‘Belle’ and readjusts it to fit Jafar’s circumstances. This is the opening number to 2013’s Untold Story of a Royal Vizier, and it sees the story’s hero, Jafar from Disney’s Aladdin, conversing with the merchants of the market place while they all insult him profusely for being ugly, old and a “piece of shit”. These are just some of the very best musical numbers that Starkid has to offer: And they are without a doubt one of the most talented groups of people I have ever come across.įrom a writing and composing team that is unbelieveably imaginative and absurdly witty to extremely versatile and gifted performers, Starkid have produced A Very Potter Musical, Sequel and Senior Year, Starship, Holy Musical most recently, Twisted. Starkid consists of a group of performers who write and star in their own musicals, many of which are parodies or else “retellings” of famous stories, currently based in Chicago. If you have no idea who Starkid are, where have you been for the past five or so years? That version was featured on the tour's soundtrack. So I may be appealing to a slightly more niche audience than usual with this but I am an avid Starkid fan and have been watching their shows more and more as of late, and so felt as though they warranted a blog.
In his book about human mating systems, Primatologist Alan Dixson has said that the human penis is not "exceptionally long in relation to those of other primate species, especially when their body sizes are taken into account." Ī more likely mechanical explanation for the evolution of the human penis that does not require the invoking of sperm competition can be found in a 2008 paper by Edwin Bowman. Smith reported measurements of 8cm for the chimpanzee, 4cm for the orang-utan, and 3cm for the gorilla. It should also be noted that all the above measurements are greater than what was originally claimed by Smith 1984, an influential proponent of the idea that the human penis is unique compared to other great apes. It is similar to the chimpanzee in erect length, only slightly smaller, and has a shorter penis than the bonobo (Stretched length and erect length are approximately the same lengths). Erect Length 14.4cm (Dixson and Mundy 1994) Īs we can see, the human penis is not as magnificent as some would make it out to be.Let's see what other primates look like in comparison: calcSD penis size calculators and charts. The average human penis is between 13-15cm in length and 10-12cm in circumference when erect (measured with a bonepressed ruler): The human penis is more visually accessible than other primate penises and thus has evolved via sexual selection. The size of the penis has evolved to promote female orgasm as female orgasm influences sperm retention and transport, larger penises will be selected in order to gain an advantage during sperm competition. The size and shape of the human penis have evolved to displace rival sperm and thus gain an advantage during sperm competition. The length of the Human Penis has evolved to deliver sperm as close as possible to the cervix so as to gain an advantage during sperm competition.Typically to account for the purported unique status of the human penis in comparison to other primates, one of four following theories are offered as an explanation: It should be interesting to note the both Miller and Ryan are evolutionary psychologists, not biologists (and they are both notorious for their highly speculative and dubious theories) as well as polyamorists. Ī more recent example can be seen in the popular book Sex at Dawn (a book that can only be described as the largest collection of pseudoscientific claims on human sexuality to have ever existed) by Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha, who luridly describe humans as the "great ape with the great penis". In 2000, Geoffrey Miller published a book where he wrote that "adult human males have the longest, thickest and most flexible penises of any living primate". This view has been further advanced by the likes of Robin Baker (the author of Sperm Wars) and Mark Bellis (the pioneers for the idea that sperm competition has played a major role influencing human evolution), who made dubious claims that the human penis "is nearly twice as long and over twice as wide as that of the chimpanzee."Īlison Jolly has also made similar remarks in her book saying that the "peculiarity of humans is that the penis is twice the size for body weight as that of any other primate". Smith described the human penis as "extraordinary relative to the other hominoids." Smith, heavily influenced these assertions about the evolutionary history of the human penis. These hypotheses largely center around the idea that the morphology and size of the human penis are highly unusual compared to other great apes, especially humanity's closest extant evolutionary cousins, the apes of the genus Pan (chimps and bonobos). The human penis has been subject to many theories about how its specific morphology has been influenced by evolution. 5.2 Penile length and sexual satisfationĬontroversy about evolution.5.1 Issues with the research on female orgasm.4.6 Crude Re-estimation of Partner Size and Sexual Satisfaction.4.5 Male and Female Perception of Penis size.4.2 Abdominal fat and judgements of penis length.3.8 Testes size comparisons amongst great apes.3.5 Polyspermy and reproductive success. Its feature set makes it especially popular among photographers. Users can quickly display the time of sunrise, sunset and three kinds of twilight, moon phase and tilt, and daylight duration. VelaClock Classic divides the screen into two panes, the upper pane contains a scrollable list of basic information about user-selected cities and the lower pane contains sun/moon details for the selected city. For each row in the city list there's a horizontal "light bar" which visually depicts the current 24 hours of light: daylight, three kinds of twilight, and night. Then without anybody noticing it, the Chinese-American restaurants began to disappear, the signs blinking out one by one. It’s never quite stated in the exhibition, but all of these artefacts have a common theme: From 1920 through the 1960s, Chinese-American restaurants were the most exciting culinary experience in town, when no other ethnic food could compete with the roster of chow mein, egg rolls, fried rice, shrimp toast, spare ribs, egg foo young and, above all, chop suey itself. You can also see century-old menus from Chinatowns in Boston and New York a hand-colored postcard of Mott Street in the 1940s, when nearly every restaurant had a neon sign blazing “CHOP SUEY” or “CHOW MEIN” above its door marvel at the inanity of Ideal Toy’s 1967-vintage “Chop Suey” game and listen to Louis Prima and Keely Smith singing, “Chop Suey, Chow Mein, Tufu and you, I’ve got the craziest yearning.” In the 1940s, nearly every restaurant in New York’s Chinatown had a “Chop Suey” or “Chow Mein” sign over its door. Among the exhibits in “Have You Eaten Yet?: the Chinese Restaurant in America” at the Museum of Chinese in the Americas are a souvenir fan and a couple of menus from “Broadway’s Most Popular Chinese-American Restaurant.” They’re part of the eccentric collection of a Chinese food fanatic named Harley Spiller, who has spent the last eight years collecting ephemera-from menus to matchbooks, cookbooks to song lyrics-all relating to the Chinese-American culinary experience. In fact, to view the only concrete evidence that the chop suey palace even existed, you have to go down to Chinatown. Today Chin Lee is a near-forgotten part of the city’s culinary memory, its Theater District building now covered with giant billboards, and a Latin nightclub occupying the upstairs space. You signal the waiter, point to the beef chop suey on the menu and say, “I’ll have some of that.” It’s the midpoint of the Chop Suey Era in American dining, and you want to share in the fun. The kitchen churns out hundreds of gallons of the stuff daily, to be shoveled down by hundreds of thousands of happy customers every year. You look around at the other tables and see big platters heaped with steaming mounds of brownish stew, either over rice, for chop suey, or noodles, for chow mein. You can have a club sandwich or a ham omelet, if you must, but the top of the menu lists Chin Lee’s specialties, which are chow mein and chop suey-six kinds of “chop sooy” to be precise. A black-bow-tied Chinese waiter hands you the menu for the 70 cents dinner, and you scan the choices. On the dance floor, it’s strictly catch-as-catch-can, with gum-chewing shopgirls from Gimbel’s dancing with shopgirls, while Wall Street clerks look on hungrily, and a gaggle of girlfriends from the Bronx tries to catch the eyes of a group of slumming Princeton boys. On the main floor, dozens of white-clothed tables surround a dance floor and an all-Chinese jazz orchestra wailing away at breakneck pace, while above there’s a second floor, with more tables and a balcony overlooking the dancers. He finds you a table off in a far corner and disappears, leaving you to survey the surroundings. The entrance is on 49th Street, under a movie-theater-style awning that lures you up a brightly-lit flight of stairs to a coat check, a crowd of people milling about and the clatter of plates and the noise of a frantic jazz band.įinally, the unsmiling Chinese maître d’ nods your way, pulls menus off a pile and leads you through a maze of tables crowded with shouting, smiling, eating diners. Around them, the words “DINING,” “DANCING” and “NO COVER CHARGE” are spelled out by blinking yellow bulbs. It’s winter of 1939 and the big, bamboo-style letters on the sides of a building at Broadway and 49th Street blaze forth the name “CHIN LEE” late into the night.
